why do african women wear their hair short?
it’s not genetics. all hair grows at the same rate.
i’ve noticed that africans who are well off tend to have hair that is medium length or longer. so is it poor health? or cultural standards, i.e., is short hair traditionally considered more attractive? do the men ‘force’ the women to wear their hair short to make them less appealing to men? etc.
or is it a matter of maintenance? the women in africa seem to do all the work. i’d imagine they don’t have time to worry about their hair. or perhaps short hair is seen as practical because of the heat or lice or something.
please don’t make this racial. thanks.
i should add that i’m black and i know our hair is generally curly… and thin? only when it isn’t being cared for properly. otherwise that ish is thick as hell.

our hair dosnt grow the same as other races.our hair breaks off eaisiley caz its very thin and our scalps dont produce oils to protec our hair from breakage…its not that we cut it,its just that its not healthy.and im not ashamed to say so
